Keep Lee County Beautiful is taking registrations for the International Coastal Cleanup Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at various locations in Lee County, including the Sanibel Causeway Islands.
Since its inception, over 17 million volunteers around the world have collected over 348 million pounds of trash. It remains the world’s largest voluntary effort to remove litter from local shorelines.
KLCB is the local organizer for the Ocean Conservancy ICC in Southwest Florida.
“International Coastal Cleanup is a leading and inspiring action to protect our waterways”, said executive director Trish Fancher. “KLCB is committed to tackling ocean litter and couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers.”
Prior registration is required.
As of August 17, 16 of the 45 slots available for the Causeway Islands were occupied.
