Wyboston Lakes Resort was named a finalist for the Sustainability Award in the Meetings Industry Association’s “Very” Prestigious miaList for 2022.
The company’s commitment to sustainability has reportedly been widely recognized with prior platinum accreditation from Greengage Eco-Smart, a “Gold Award” from Green Tourism and the IACC ‘Gold Star’.
These awards are reported to have been won through Wyboston’s wide range of energy and waste reduction initiatives. For the seventh consecutive year, last year the leisure group sent zero waste to landfill and is currently aiming to ensure that no food waste leaves the site.
In addition, all electricity used on site would be generated from renewable energy sources, saving more than 1,300 tonnes of Co2 emissions. The resort is working towards a goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
The miaList, now in its eleventh year, recognizes inspiring and outstanding individuals and performance in the business meetings and events industry.
As part of the judging process, the next step is for the team to make and submit a video of the band’s accomplishments for review by the judges. All teams will then proceed to public voting. The winner of the miaList category for the 2022 Sustainability Award will be chosen based on the judges’ scores and public vote.
Wyboston Lakes Resort will find out if it has won the sustainability award at a celebratory event on Thursday, November 17 at Hilton Birmingham Metropolis.
Steve Jones, General Manager of Wyboston Lakes Resort, said, “Sustainability is a primary consideration for everyone here. We have implemented many valuable initiatives at the site and continue to seek new opportunities to be more sustainable.
“While this is deserved recognition for the entire company, in particular our green team has been driving new ideas and their implementation.”
